Traditional Fresh Mozzarella (of any size or shape), Fior di Latte, Smoked Mozzarella, Dry Mozzarella, Primo Sale, Bufala Fresca, Burrata, and Stracciatella are best served fresh at room temperature. Remove from refrigerator about 1 hour before serving.
The recommended temperature range for storing Lioni fresh mozzarella cheese products is 34-36 °F to maintain product quality and freshness.

Lioni fresh mozzarella products are made from 100% whole cow’s milk. We source our milk from local farmers that produce high quality products through best practices and environmental health. Our farmers pledge that they do not treat their cows with the growth hormone rBST*. Our fresh mozzarella products are packaged in purified water and are preservative and additive free.

*No significant difference has been shown between milk derived from rBST-treated and non-rBST treated cows.

All Lioni products are made from Pasteurized whole milk.
Our fresh mozzarella products have a shelf-life of 21 days from date of manufacture as all Lioni products are free from preservatives or additives. Our smoked and dry mozzarella products have a shelf-life of 30 days from date of manufacture. Fresh mozzarella products will generally last approximately 3 days after opening if they are refrigerated properly and there is no cross contamination when sliced or removed from container.
Fresh Mozzarella is best consumed fresh as it is in Italy. Lioni’s hand-wrapped fresh mozzarella, bufala mozzarella, smoked mozzarella, dry mozzarella, and primo sale, may be frozen and stored for consumption later. We do not recommend freezing any of our fresh mozzarella in water products, Burrata, Stracciatella or Fresh Ricotta products.

Yes! Lioni’s Fresh Mozzarella is available in a Lower Sodium variety, in both 8 oz. and 16 oz. hand wrapped sizes, as well as in a 3 lb. food service tub, in water.
According to the Celiac Disease Foundation, the dairy group is a naturally gluten-free food group.
Lioni uses all natural wood chips on its own premises to gently smoke the cheese.
Although so many of Lioni’s fresh mozzarella cheeses will melt and be delicious on fresh pizza, our Fresh Mozzarella Loaf, and Fior di Latte are highly recommended for pizza due to their lower moisture content. Lioni Bufala, Burrata, Stracciatella and Ricotta products are also great additions for making an authentic pizza.
